In a not entirely surprising move, Nokia has come out and denied the rumours that they are working on an Android-based phone. This mythical device was purported to be arriving some time in September, and had been bandied about as truth by supposed industry insiders.
However, a Nokia spokesperson finally squashed this foolishness, saying that there is “Absolutely no truth to this whatsoever”.
Why is it foolishness? Nokia have their own mobile platform called Symbian, they’ve been developing it and working on it for years. Almost anyone who has touched a mobile phone has likely used it at some point, it’s simply that old and widespread. Why would they put aside their own well known, well developed platform just because someone has released something newer, shinier and (arguably) better? Of course they wouldn’t.
