After taking a crack at producing some kind of Dell phone, having it rejected, designing an iPod-like device, and having that rejected, Dell have reportedly settled on creating a MID (Mobile Internet Device) so as not to compete with the horrifying power of Apple. Probably a smart move there, Dell – Apple is a marketing powerhouse and the iPod already has an amazingly large user-base.
What Dell is taking away from all of these failed attempts at new products, to break into new market areas, is that they really like Android and the App Market. Hey, another smart move.
Apparently work began on the device as early as last year, and people who have seen the prototypes say that it’s a little larger than an iPhone, won’t be a mobile phone, and will probably taste like childhood memories of cotton candy to those who are tired of the iPod Touch.
